The cat ignored me, of course, because he is a cat. [He may have looked at me in a puzzled manner and then ignored me, because (a) the world puzzles him, and (b) why on earth should he sod off? Those shoelaces are HIS toy...]

Scary thing is that my similar rejoinder is "Oi! Cat!" And I've never been to Britain. And now my kids have picked up on it as well...!
