I think all of this living in different places has seriously messef with my head.

I just told the cat, "Dude! Sod off!" Not for the first time, either.

And did the cat look at you in a puzzled manner? Or did it just ignore you? Either way, was that because it doesn't understand

a) English?
b) British English?
c) American English?

The scary thing is that in my head, I can hear you saying that very clearly. It is not out of the realm of imagination, by a long stretch.

The cat ignored me, of course, because he is a cat. [He may have looked at me in a puzzled manner and then ignored me, because (a) the world puzzles him, and (b) why on earth should he sod off? Those shoelaces are HIS toy...]

Scary thing is that my similar rejoinder is "Oi! Cat!" And I've never been to Britain. And now my kids have picked up on it as well...!
