dianec42: Head shot of a human female warrior in World of Warcraft video game (WoW generic)
I've been playing a little bit of World of Warcraft again. There's an event on where you get +17% bonus experience and reputation. I still only have one character at max level. The latest expansion is still a linear boring grind and I've seen it all.

The kittens are growing like little furry weeds. They've just passed 6 months. Nimbus (6 months) briefly outweighed Findo (17), but Findo promptly regained almost a pound and is once again in the lead. I was briefly keeping my bathroom door open, but now Nimbus can jump up onto the counter and apparently toothbrushes are FASCINATING so oh well. That was nice while it lasted. Loki was spotted trying to chin himself up onto the counter by his claws. It didn't look like it was going well. We are already planning to transition them onto adult food in the next few months.

We both took Thanksgiving week off. I have hauled out my main sewing machine (a Brother Strong & Tough) and re-repaired the husband's bathrobe pockets. Sadly the machine is not a Strong & THICK so I had to improvise on some of the more layered bits. Still beats doing it by hand.

Still have not cut out the first skater dress. Will still need to clean & oil the serger as I don't think I've used it since about April. What is time anyway?

I need to post more cat pictures. And get a paid account so I can have more icons.

A totally unrelated character has finally made it to level 80. Woo freakin' hoo.

Warning: This is in somewhat poor taste, and will only be funny to anyone who tried to buy Blizzcon tickets this week. It's to the tune of "Still Alive" by GladOS.

This is a song parody which will likely only be funny to anyone familiar with Portal and who is also trying to buy Blizzcon tickets today. Yes, I know someone's already done a filk of this on the forums, but my brain was working on this first and I think mine is going to be better. :P
Cut for the 2 or so people who actually care )

More to come...

le weekend

Dragon boat practice yesterday went reasonably well. My back is still killing me. There was a captains' meeting in the evening, also in Long Beach; I came home between practice and the meeting for a shower and some loafing around, both of which were worth it. My useless co-co-captain (don't ask) showed up to the meeting about an hour and a half late. Why am I not surprised?

I also did some stitching yesterday. Yay me.

Today there has been sleeping in, laundry, more cross stitch (I got to start the fifth shade of purple!), and WoW. My little blood-elf hunter is level 57! I'm so excited. I'm *so* not going to get all my old-world quests done before I bail and go to Outland. I hope to at least get the mechanical yeti first...

Dragon boat races in Long Beach were this past weekend. Our team got bumped up into a harder division. We were, as they say, Not Prepared. Several of our races were agonizingly close, but we came home with no medals. Oh well, time to up our game, or whatever the kids are calling it.

Home internet connection is working. Small projects getting done, some boxes unpacked, still haven't found the cutlery drawer insert or the main cutlery stash so we're living out of the dish drainer for a few things. Found both salt shakers finally, so at least breakfast will return to normal soon.

Getting used to this not-having-a-dishwasher thing again. 9-minute commute is also not bad. (I got the commute down to 7 minutes this morning by getting on the freeway. NOT worth it!)

All the utilities are set up. WoW works. My guildies know I'm alive again.

Time to go hunting through more boxes now...

Ding 70.

No, I don't have enough gold saved up for my flying mount. Darn it.

Saturday was dragon boat practice. The race is in just over a month so our fearless leaders are pushing us a bit more. I stopped by the realtor on the way back to drop off one signed thing and pick up another thing to sign. Then I made the mistake of opting for the scenic route home. I'm trying to not get so irked with heavy traffic, but there were several points where it was so backed up we had to sit at green lights, which is apparently where I draw the line.

Later [livejournal.com profile] stuartc and I dropped in on D. and M. that we used to work with. They have a nice, if small, place in Santa Monica. We met their kitties and they gave us boxes. (The lads did, not the cats.) We tried to go to Costco to buy more boxes but they were already closed, which was a shame as I also needed (and now even more desperately need) to put fuel in the car and I would have preferred to do so cheaply.

Sunday started out as a relatively normal day in that we did NOT have to do any realtor things, and we did NOT get up early. Sadly the voice of reason (my husband) insisted it was time to start packing boxes. Have I mentioned lately that we have way too much stuff?

There was a little WoW in there too, but I am still nowhere near level 70.

Also I have been taking lots and lots of Advil, as I was already sore from dragon boating before I even started slinging boxes around.

Randomness

Last weekend we did NOT make it to Gallifrey con. We did sort of make up for it by watching the rest of season 2 on DVD that we ordered from the UK around Christmas.

I miss British TV. We're making a short trip to England soon for a wedding, and I hope I don't spend the entire rest of the time glued to the telly sighing wistfully.

Why are they changing the dates on daylight saving time AGAIN? It's hard enough to get up in the morning as it is. (I know, I know... they're just doing it to piss off grumpy old farts like me.)

My new resolution around the office: If I cannot help making theatrical sighing noises, I shall at least endeavour to do so with my mouth closed.

It is not actually possible to do a "quick" run of any part of Sunken Temple.

When are the Oscars? I volunteered to drive [livejournal.com profile] stuartc to a thing in Hollywood tomorrow, how doomed are we?

It took me longer to drive home from Torrance last night than it did to drive home from CYPRESS last Thursday. Grrrr.

by the way

*DING*!

Great, I'm level 60. Now what?
dianec42: Joshua tree against a blue sky (WoW)
I feel good! In fact, I feel so good, I'M GOING TO THE GYM!

Sigh. This probably also means I will have no patience for grinding furbolgs any more either. Oh well. I really will be the last one in the guild to reach 60...

World of Warcraft is running this promotion where if you refer a friend for a free 10-day trial, and they actually sign up and pay for a month, you get a month free. (By the way, if anyone wants a referral, give a shout out now!)

My darling husband came up with the following brilliant idea: we should refer EACH OTHER and each get a second account so we can roll Horde characters on the same RP-PVP server (Emerald Dream) where we each have far too many Alliance alts already.

I have now become re-hooked on the lowbie tauren and troll quests.

Like we didn't have enough alts already?! Gonna. Kill. Him....

too funny

As some of you may already know, my husband and I are somewhat addicted to World of Warcraft.

We made a guild for our gnomish alts (and have graciously allowed in a couple of dwarfs, plus one human who jumped into a Winter Wondervolt machine and convinced the leader that she's really a gnome). The guild is called "Wee Hooligans" and our mission is to go out and cause trouble. We've even gotten so unlame as to invite in some of Marc and Mike's shorter alts. But it is entirely a frivolous guild: we don't have events or meetings, we don't raid, and we will certainly never take down Onyxia. It was a moment of silliness, which has really now passed, and the main benefit is that now people don't bug us to sign their guild charters quite so often.

So the other day my gnome rogue Zoee is running around Westfall, and this random gnome rogue guy says hello... I compliment him on his nice red Defias mask (just like mine! how cute), we chat a bit, and then he asks: "Is your guild recruiting?"

I just about fell off the couch laughing. (Maybe you had to be there...)

WoW patch 1.10 today. All my mods are broken. Cannot function without addons.

wowinterface.com just stopped talking to me.

And where is my husband, who actually understands how these things work? In bed sick, of course.

I'm not saying he does this on purpose... but last time this happened he was conveniently out of the country.

Fingers are starting to twitch... must go farm centaurs for silk cloth... This blows.

Good news: My mage got her mount immediately upon reaching level 40.

Bad news: My level 35 warrior is going to be SO screwed. (Well, okay, so are the other 5. But she's the one who'll get hit first.)

Hmm. If I start a warlock now...
