Best burrito ever (sorta)
Sep. 13th, 2005 03:26 pmSo I wasn't going to bother trying out the new Mexican place just yet... I was just going to go to Quizno's because I thought they would be fast, reliable, and predictable. Hah! After a perfectly reasonable "I'll be with you in just a minute," I waited for at least 5 minutes with no further acknowledgement of my presence, so I walked out. (This was at 2:30 in the afternoon, and the staff nearly outnumbered the customers.)
Good news: No one AT ALL ahead of me in line at the Chile Verde. Bad news: They'd just done the floor and the place reeked. Good news: Fast and friendly service; Jarritos soda; and was able to grab a menu on the way out. Bad news: Burrito leaked all over the menu by the time I got back; Jarritos required a bottle opener; burrito was poorly constructed and required a knife and fork. Good news: knife and fork were already supplied, and bottle opener was readily found. Better news: yummy yummy burrito (carnitas and green chili) and bonus tortilla chips!
That was delicious. I should walk out of Quizno's more often.....

Date: 2005-09-13 11:27 pm (UTC)On the other hand, I have a menu now! (I think it's dried out...) So I have a plan of attack.
Oh wow... the menu has New Card Smell! I have a sudden, overwhelming urge to play Magic: The Gathering...

Date: 2005-09-14 12:14 am (UTC)sounds like short person's syndrom to me. Sigh.
Gee, I'm on the right side of the counter, I look hungry, I've got money ready to spend. What else do I need to do to look like a customer? (I've actually had people look over me and ask the tall guy that just walked into the place what he wanted.)

Date: 2005-09-14 12:24 am (UTC)I think some sort of "Sorry, I'll be right with you" sort of thing would have been appropriate. He was only about 10 feet away. But it was like I suddenly wasn't even there any more.
I figure, if the staff can't handle being outnumbered 3 to 2, they're not really competent to sell me lunch. Which is too bad, as the subs and the parking are both way better than the nearby Subway.
