So I wasn't going to bother trying out the new Mexican place just yet... I was just going to go to Quizno's because I thought they would be fast, reliable, and predictable. Hah! After a perfectly reasonable "I'll be with you in just a minute," I waited for at least 5 minutes with no further acknowledgement of my presence, so I walked out. (This was at 2:30 in the afternoon, and the staff nearly outnumbered the customers.)

Good news: No one AT ALL ahead of me in line at the Chile Verde. Bad news: They'd just done the floor and the place reeked. Good news: Fast and friendly service; Jarritos soda; and was able to grab a menu on the way out. Bad news: Burrito leaked all over the menu by the time I got back; Jarritos required a bottle opener; burrito was poorly constructed and required a knife and fork. Good news: knife and fork were already supplied, and bottle opener was readily found. Better news: yummy yummy burrito (carnitas and green chili) and bonus tortilla chips!

That was delicious. I should walk out of Quizno's more often.....

Or just skip Quizmo's altogether and keep testing Chile Verde...

I'm not sure that plan will work. There are 3 other restaurants I have to walk past, including a sushi place.

On the other hand, I have a menu now! (I think it's dried out...) So I have a plan of attack.

Oh wow... the menu has New Card Smell! I have a sudden, overwhelming urge to play Magic: The Gathering...

sounds like short person's syndrom to me. Sigh.
Gee, I'm on the right side of the counter, I look hungry, I've got money ready to spend. What else do I need to do to look like a customer? (I've actually had people look over me and ask the tall guy that just walked into the place what he wanted.)

It was worse than that. Sandwich Guy was making a sandwich for the person in front of me (fair enough), looked me in the eye and greeted me and said he'd be with me in... I forget, "a minute" or "a couple of minutes" or "a moment" or something. Then he goes over to help Cash Register Lady and... just never came back. I was the only person waiting to order.

I think some sort of "Sorry, I'll be right with you" sort of thing would have been appropriate. He was only about 10 feet away. But it was like I suddenly wasn't even there any more.

I figure, if the staff can't handle being outnumbered 3 to 2, they're not really competent to sell me lunch. Which is too bad, as the subs and the parking are both way better than the nearby Subway.

This post needs a sound clip of Beavis, saying "Burrrrrrito!"

Just sayin'.

Stop it! I already can't get Beavis out of my head every time we use the new cappucino machine.
