letter meme, finally
May. 29th, 2006 10:49 amThis is how it works: Comment on this entry asking for a letter, and I'll provide one.
Write ten words beginning with that letter, including an explanation what the word means to you and why.
I got the letter T from
sharikkamur.
1. Tea! My beverage of choice. I prefer it unadulterated, though I did learn to drink it with milk whilst living in the UK. I also like iced tea, which my English husband finds unbearably strange.I like my tea stronger than my mom likes her coffee.
2. Transit, public: I much prefer it to driving, although in LA I haven't really been able to make that work for me. Whenever I get to a new city, I like to see how the transit lines fit together and make pretty patterns. T also conveniently stands for Tube (London) and "the T" (Boston).
3. Travelling: Something I do quite a lot of. These days I am usually quite happy to have a travelling companion in
stuartc. Sometimes, of course, that just means we're cranky at each other instead of being quietly cranky to ourselves. I love being in other places. Getting there is frequently a giant pain in the neck though.
4. Thinking: Something I spend my every waking hour doing, whether I want to or not. I can kind of turn it off for a little bit by playing WoW or solitaire. Although I spend far too much time Thinking, I can frequently be impressively Thoughtless.
5. Teleportation: If I could choose to have one super power, this would definitely be the one. See above about how I like BEING in other places...
6. Tough: I am tough. I tend to think that I can handle everything on my own. Occasionally my darling husband yells at me when I am particularly dumb about this.
7. Temper: I have been known to lose this from time to time. Not nearly so much these days as when I was a kid.
8. Television: I have a love-hate relationship with this. It drives me crazy, and it also sucks all of my time when I let it. I found British telly to be much more satisfying than American TV, but possibly only because I hadn't had time to get sick of it.
9. Texas: I was conceived in San Antonio, and actually made it back there for a Worldcon in 1997. It was much more bland and touristy than I expected... possibly because I was there for the Worldcon and didn't go exploring too far. It was also extremely hot, which I liked but which caused some of my friends to wilt quite a bit. I probably wouldn't like it there for extended periods of time, although the steaks and ribs were to die for.
10. Trees: I adored climbing trees when I was a kid. Can't remember the last time I actually climbed one. I still take great solace from being in the woods. We have many trees in the yard of the house we're currently renting: a fig, a mango, a huge avocado, a satsuma, two lemons, and at least six guavas. This is indicative (to my mind, anyway) of just how strange life can get.
