So we have these two new cats, Findo Gask (another story, for another time) and Princess. (As [livejournal.com profile] stuartc never tires of saying, "There'll be no escape for the Princess this time.") (Yes, we still have the old cat too, at least as much as we ever did.) Princess was spayed last Tuesday, so she has been going around with a very undignified-looking cone on her head for the past nine days to keep her from pulling at the stitches. We've occasionally taken it off her for a few minutes to eat or wash, but that tends to last about five minutes before she goes for the stitches and has to have the lampshade put on her again.

Until this morning... when I awoke to find the lampshade on the bed, with no Princess anywhere near it. (The most impressive thing was that the bit for tying it securely around her neck was *still tied*. Rather annoyingly securely too - [livejournal.com profile] stuartc was asleep, so I took up the challenge of getting the thing back on her by myself, which is never easy even when I'm wide awake and fully dressed.

Lampshade reattached... mission accomplished? Not quite. I put the light on and had a look... she has pulled one of the stitches out. Never underestimate the abilities of a determined and stupid cat! This was discovered at 7 AM, which (miracle of miracles) is exactly when the vet's office opens. I gallantly phoned in, and was dressed in record time before [livejournal.com profile] stuartc gallantly drove her in by himself (in case it took a while; his work is much closer...)

Now they're back already! Hurrah. She's to be on antibiotics for the next ten days or so; and her stitch removal appointment is now moved to Sunday instead of Saturday. All's well... (Or for you fellow WoW addicts, "Stitches is slain and all's well in Darkshire!")

I've got to say two things: This is the first time I've gotten dresses so quickly since 8 AM chem lab freshman year; and I love our vet. (Well, three things really, the third being: Stupid cats!)

Which reminds me... I must get the ribbon needed to make a ruff before next weekend...
