Random updatey goodness

I have survived four weeks at my new job. It occurred to me that most of my job-related postings have been friends-only, because I still figured it could all go horribly wrong; but at this point, they really do seem to want to keep me, so that's all right then. (-:
Work is good. It's a tad unstructured, and every now and then threatens to be a little overwhelming; but I must bear in mind that I got one of TWO open positions, and we're still going to hire me some help. So it's not going to be just me, having to be the bearer of light all on my own. The people are all really nice. There's already a band (sigh), but one of my co-workers plays guitar and says his sister has just started playing drums, so we're threatening to start a breakaway band of our own. This means, among other things, that I must get OFF MY LAZY BUTT and buy a bass amp and bloody well start practicing again.
The other thing we MUST do is acquire a second car. Sigh, I feel so American and consumerist saying that. Luckily we both work in approximately the same direction; so for the past few weeks I've been dropping off
stuartc and picking him up again on my way to and fro. But the arrangement does chafe a bit, as it locks us into certain hours, and it does add a bit of time and complexity to my commute. (Which can already be a bit lengthy and complex some mornings, especially when the 405 goes all car-parky on me.)
Right now though, there is nothing finer than hanging about in bed with my beloved
stuartc, drinking strong coffee and arguing over the proper spelling of "miaow". Too bad the dumb cat's gone out, he doesn't know what cuddles he's missing.

Date: 2005-01-30 03:34 am (UTC)Just occurred to me: if you do resume attending LASFS, the obvious next step would be to bring some of your co-workers along. Especially if they're single, female, and under 50. The fact that I'm sitting here at home on a Saturday night is not an influencing factor. I have a cold. *cough*
