Disgusting discovery of the day
Dec. 21st, 2004 02:37 pmChristmas is coming, and that means MINCE PIES!
Out of curiosity, I just looked at the ingredient lists on the two jars of mince we have in the kitchen. The one from England (via the somewhat overpriced British-stuff store in Santa Monica) is fine, apart from containing vegetarian suet which is kind of weird. The American one, however, lists CORN SYRUP as the first ingredient. That's just so gross and wrong.
What is is with the apparent American fascination with making everything out of corn?! Surely anyone with a working set of taste buds would know not to do THAT...
