So the movers turned up this morning, just before [livejournal.com profile] stuartc had to go off to work. They got all the stuff into the house in 45 MINUTES. Wow. Then they assembled the bed and the sofa, and unpacked the kitchen boxes. All boxes present and accounted for, no sofa bits left over, and no dishes broken. Impressive.

The kitchen is now of course a total disaster area. We also seem to be short two Denby cereal bowls - they must be in a non-kitchen box somewhere. And all of the dishes need a good clean before I'm going to be willing to eat off them. (Please, God, tell me the Denby is dishwasher safe...)

OMG am I ever hungry. I wonder if I can actually get at any of the food...

143 boxes. I wonder how many of them are books. Be afraid, be very afraid.

I was up helping $SISTER pack yesterday for her move, and she just wanted to put "food" on the boxes from the kitchen. I told her that really, she wanted the one with the tea in it labelled tea, how many boxes did she want to pop open in utter desperation to find it?

So far, it sounds like things are progressing better than most moves I have gone through, though. Good luck finding your kitchen and the bowls!

A friend of mine decided to label a lot of his boxes "Miscellaneous Kitchen Grotch" - a decision he was to regret when he was unpacking 9 months later and wanted a specific item :-)

Yeah, a few moves ago I found myself labeling about a dozen boxes in a row "Stuff". I decided to diversify by labelling boxes of books and CDs "Data", which didn't help either.

Thank God, the Denby is dishwasher safe. Next exciting bit - finding some place to put it all away! (And then having [livejournal.com profile] stuartc rearrange it all when he gets home. Maybe I'll just leave it out.)
