even more progress!
Nov. 10th, 2004 03:20 pmThe heating works. The pilot light just needed lit, plus we pulled out almost enough dog hair to make another entire dog. Luckily the thermostat also works, so I can turn it off too. Windows are getting cleaner. (I considered taking a picture of the black hand-print on the paper towel that resulted from a first pass in the back bedroom. NEVER ask me if windows look clean enough, I will say Yes even if they are filthy.)
Is there no escape? Our next door neighbor is from Glasgow! And her husband is Boston Irish. (I also noticed Reinaldo (our handyman) is wearing a "Massachusetts State Police" t-shirt today. I didn't ask.)
And
stuartc's vision insurance stuff is finally straightened out, so my previous appointment has been paid for, and I have an appointment for Monday morning to look at frames and discuss how much is actually covered.
I found out what the helicopters were about last night. Apparently a Cathay Pacific jet took off from LAX and then some passengers noticed flames coming from one of the engines. Exciting! So the plane flew out over the Pacific and dumped its fuel, and came back in to land. I got this from the next-door neighbor, I might actually go look it up on the ever-irritating LA Times web site now. But I should probably google for "how to clean venetian blinds" first, as that's my nominal excuse for having reawakened the PowerBook. Decisions, decisions...
(Still haven't found out whose car horn it is, that's been playing "La Cucaracha" every half hour or so. It's getting closer...)
