the happy fat-scale dance...
Jul. 30th, 2004 11:59 amSo, okay, this is a little thing but it has nonetheless made me very happy. We have one of those scales that measures both your weight and your (alleged) body fat percentage - affectionately referred to as the "fat machine". It is only accurate to a full percentage point (unlike the one in the gym in Dundee, which gives you tenths of a percent), so any change on it is kind of major. (
stuartc, of course, is an extreme skeptic and claims it just makes numbers up. I am more credulous, and I've noted that over time the numbers do at least seem to reflect the general trend of how my body is changing. So while I realise that the numbers it gives me may not have MUCH to do with reality, I still find them interesting and useful. And I am NOT defensive about it. So there.)
Our fat machine lives in our Marina Del Rey home-away-from-home; we could not be bothered transporting it to Dundee for a month just to bring it back again (obviously). This meant that instead of my normal once a week or so, an entire MONTH had passed when I (with some trepidation) stepped onto it last night... and read the number that it told me... which was... a full percentage point LOWER than what it had told me last time!
Yay!! I am now 28% fat instead of 29%; by my rather contrived calculations, this means I have only 5 more kilos of fat to lose! Woo hoo! Have I finally broken out of my months-long stall? Let's hope so...
