Sigh, some days I don't know why I bothered making my characters on a role-playing server. Seems like I barely even have the energy to RP a grumpy middle-aged woman surrounded by 12-year-olds, much less anything actually creative...

Console yourself with the thought that the 12-year-olds wouldn't recognise good roleplaying if it hit them with +10 vorpal sword.

Try spending a little time on a PvP server for perspective; at least players on an RP server are tolerably civil towards each other. I haven't seen an online game yet (outside of the old mushes) where people actually roleplay.

Just concentrate on being a young woman surrounded by 12-year-olds, and the middle-agedness will come in time, eventually.

Yeah, that was probably the reason. (-:

People sometimes vaguely attempt RPing on Silver Hand from time to time. I remember helping to explain to some noobs in Elwynn Forest that the first rule of RP is you don't talk about RP. The conversation went rapidly downhill from there...

I just got the game... what server do you play on?

The Role-playing servers look attractive at least in part because I imagine the amount of extraneous channel blather might be less.

We started out on Silver Hand 'cause some of stuartc's friends were there... made some alts on Cenarion Circle when Silver Hand was down for about a week and we were desperate for a fix. Both of these are RP servers. (I haven't played on anything but RP servers, so I can't say if the blather is any worse there, but most days it's not too bad.)

I have several characters - on Silver Hand, a human warrior (level 38) called Ilyana; and on Cenarion Circle, a level 20 gnome rogue called Emillia, a level 12 undead warlock called Jiandra that I don't play much, and a level 17 tauren shaman called Loraiah. Look me up if you find yourself there. (-:
