random tidbits
Mar. 31st, 2005 07:40 pmIt was 80 degrees out at lunchtime today. Yes, it's still March. NOW I remember why we're here...
Yesterday I decided to try out a different branch of the gym. Parking was slightly less awful, though getting there was significantly more of a pain. I also came to appreciate my usual branch's shiny newness and enormous modern locker room. On the other hand, they had a much greater variety of equipment, including at least one rowing machine and THREE dip assist/chin assist machines. Woot! And I got on a treadmill on a weeknight without waiting. On the other other hand, a lot of things (including one of the three sinks in the locker room) were in a non-working state. I'm not sure if I like this place or not. One thing they did have, however, was OUTSTANDING music. Something by Led Zeppelin was playing when I came in; as I was leaving, I was treated to a Cheap Trick song that I don't think I've heard since I was about 14. Which, for those of you keeping score at home, is 25 years. I felt -- and continue to feel -- old.
On Sunday
stuartc and I went hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains (just the foothills really) and totally overdid it. OMG are we out of shape. My legs are still aching a bit. It was fun though, especially during the bits where we weren't walking uphill. /-:
Cats continue to be completely insane. We need to super-glue the Shiny Stuff On A Stick toy back together - they caught the shiny thing the other day and were EXTREMELY proud of themselves, but it's a lot less fun now it's not actually attached to the stick any more. Sigh. On the bright side, Findo hasn't actually chewed through any electrical cords in days...
