I have been watching Junior Taskmaster which is a hoot. We watched the 2-parter "The Colour of Magic" via Britbox which we missed when it came out, plus the Hogfather miniseries. All highly recommended.

I'm reading The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury and ... wow, it's a product of its time (late 1940s). it's very good, brilliant at times, but I frequently got tired of the Earth Men and had to put it down for a bit. Just before that I read Machine Vendetta by Alastair Reynolds (third book in a trilogy), highly recommend.

I finally joined the local library so I've been reading some fiction I wouldn't normally pick up. Someone had recommended the Louis L'Amour westerns; I picked up a random on (The High Graders) and I didn't really care for it. I finished it, but I don't think I'll go back for more. I read Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler which was very good, if a bit too on the nose for our current dystopia.

Ooh, a new Prefect Dreyfus novel. Thanks for the notice that that's out.
I think this is my favourite sequence of his, though for a standalone(*) novel I thinkHouse of Suns is his best work.

(*) It has a novella prequel "The Thousandth Night", which I only just got around to reading.

The same group that did Hogfather/Colour of Magic also did Going Postal, which is also excellent, IMHO.

So much better than the abomination of "The Watch" a couple of years ago. . In addition to being appalling itself, it's so sad that it seems to have killed off further good quality adaptations of Discworld in the near future.

YAY LIBRARIES. I've been e-borrowing from the local library here for a while - you might enjoy "The Thursday Murder Club" books, which I read and enjoyed, and I've been chewing my way through the Miss Fisher's Mysteries books. The somewhat formulaic nature means I spread them out a bit. ("oh, is that the hot young dude she'll be banging this book? ah, yes it is.") But they are delightful fun. Also, "Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts" might be a fun read.
