random what's up with me

I am working on making some bullet journal layouts that are cheerful, functional, and dead simple to update once they're created. I got some stickers and some washi tape to aid in the effort.
I am occasionally pecking at a cross stitch project, currently the Mill Hill "Haunted Graveyard", now featuring TWO shades of purple!
I *should* be working on the memory quilt but my brain has been massively uncooperative for a couple of weeks now. Sigh. Luckily(?) Mom's life is just as disorganized as mine at the moment so there is no real time pressure to get it done before I go visit.
I survived the first week(*) of my job! I'm struggling (see above about brain). Hopefully I will get my groove on.
(*) 3 days. bad enough.
I was supposed to go to a concert. Found it was cancelled AFTER driving 3 hours. Went to Micro Center as a consolation prize; tried to set up my new PC and it is a dud and has to go back. It's a good thing I like driving. (If I keep telling myself that maybe I'll start to believe it.)

Date: 2024-08-13 12:06 am (UTC)It's a great dumping ground for things I sort-of want to keep track of but always forget. Do I want to track which wines I like from the local store? Make a page for that. When did I last wash the towels or the bedding? Put that on the monthly events page for this month. What books did I read? How long does a tube of that shampoo last? And so on.
I also love trackers. How much sleep am I getting? How's my brain on a scale of 1 to 10, over time? Am I *actually* doing workouts twice a week?
I started bullet journaling in 2021, my year from hell. I had a lot going on, and my brain was just not containing it all. I started with really basic habit trackers to answer the question "am I doing ANYTHING AT ALL", and super basic monthly layouts to make sure I paid the bills and stuff. As I've gotten my shit somewhat more together over time, it's been super interesting to look back and see how my tracking has evolved.
My trackers are something like "Tableau meets adult coloring books" if that kind of gives you the flavor.
Aspirationally, I would love to do cool/cute artsy layouts like the good people of Reddit on /r/BulletJournal. Realistically though? I do some medium-effort setup when I have the energy, so that it's trivially easy to fill stuff in later when I don't.
The Youtuber "How To ADHD" has a couple of really good videos about bullet journaling, which I should (a) find so I can share them, and (b) rewatch. :)
