Isaac Hays died. Russia attacked Georgia. The Olympics opened in China, with 15,000 performers entertaining 93,000 spectators in a gargantuan birdsnest. The accompanying fireworks seem to have been digitally faked. Gasoline got cheaper, at least here on the right coast.
