... when I were a wee lass going to Pennsic, we DID WITHOUT email or web or any o' that stuff. We certainly didn't post to LJ from our cell phones.

I'm just sayin'.

At JB's party in the woods we had cell service, so I could check my email from my tent.

A friend going to Pennsic is talking about putting solar panels on top of his yurt to recharge the batteries that power the inverter (110 VAC).

The first time I went to Pennsic all I brought was five changes of garb and a box of rubbers. It was kinda "Louise Does Pennsic" without the cheezy seventies music. I miss being eighteen.

So are you stuck with EDGE, or is there an open Wi-Fi?

I'm not at Pennsic. Far too many of my friends are, and are LJ'ing like crazy about it. I'm here working and unpacking boxes.

Half my group at work is off to war. Someone asked one of my cow orkers at a meeting whether he'd be reading email at all, and he answered "oh, sure". I ran into him afterwards and said, "uh, what?!" His reply was that the entire camp had 802.11.

sigh.
