Bad uses of technology

I've noticed some amusingly bad UI cases lately, and am bored so I thought I'd share:

* A pop-up list of clothing sizes (small, medium, etc)... in alphabetical order.
* The fax machine that scans your job and then actually attempts calling and transmitting... some unknown amount of time later. Who could have possibly thought this was a good idea?
* Automatically flushing toilets that (a) flush before you even finish standing up, and/or (b) flush at random moments.

You know what I really want? The ability to browse arbitrary dressmaking patterns, and with a few button clicks answer the all-important questions (1) How will this look in purple charmeuse? and (2) How big will my butt look in this?

(And where's my flying car, dammit?)

By a bizarre coincidence, I do have a real FBI cap and was wearing it today. (It was a gift from a cow-orker who occasionally works alongside the Agency in their anti-hate-groups unit.)

Every time someone brings up the idea of flying cars, I immediately imagine the 3-d equivalent of Kenmore Square just after a Red Sox game. "Not a good idea" doesn't even begin to cover it.
