Wow, it's like Christmas!
Oct. 29th, 2004 10:44 amHurrah! The first bits of our stuff have arrived. Obviously it wasn't that simple - we'd been promised the guys would deliver the stuff from the air shipment this morning, and that they absolutely wouldn't turn up before 9:30 AM. So we're sitting in traffic at 8:45 (have I mentioned
stuartc hasn't got his CA license yet so I have to drive him everywhere? good.) and my phone rings. Eventually I fish the phone out of its rather inconvenient location in my jeans pocket, and Stuart answers it - it's the movers, they're there already. Figures. So I drop off the husband, drive back as fast as the LA traffic will carry me, and notice there's a wee red Crown Relo van in the car park. That's good, as I wasn't entirely sure where the big access ramp round the back leads anyway. So I park the car, phone the moving guy, his line is busy so I leave him voice mail saying I'll meet him down at the van. I get there and the van is empty. I go outside and have a look at my phone - hey, I've got voice mail! I call voice mail, I have one message (which is from 3 minutes in the future! wooooo, spooky) and of course it's the moving guy, he's waiting outside my apartment with the stuff. Sheesh, and here I thought I'd have to let these guys in and show them where to go, they're way ahead of me.
Anyway, I've been unpacking for a bit now and it's all quite exciting. Pillows! Cameras! Books! Still haven't found the underwear reserves - only 4 boxes and it's still in the last place I look. Now I wonder where we're going to put all this stuff...
