I'm turning into one of those Old Fart Geeks that have always amused me so...

I was just swapping old Mac stories with a cow orker, and I had to explain what "BMO" stands for.

So, what does it stand for?

Bent Metal Object. It's the technical term for the bent paper clip that you need to use to get at the reset button, the emergency floppy eject, etc.

Never knew there was a term for it, but I do remember using BMOs to eject floppies from the Lisa (which had the slowest floppy drive in history).

OIC.

Back when I used to service a particular model of IBM portable, I would come to examine the unit, and then tell the user that I needed a particular tool to open it, which was carefully manufactured to precise specifications by legislated order of the United States government.

I would then reach into my pocket, pull out a nickel, and use it to unscrew the big bolt.

I've heard it called an "iClip"....

As one of my cow orkers used to put it when someone asked him for a paperclip: "deployed or non-deployed?"

Actually hadn't heard the BMO TLA, my best guess was Bitchin' Multiple Orgasm (which should be a band name).

BMO? I mean, I do remember using Xenix on the Lisa, and doing loads of stuff in the Lisa office applications, but I've never heard of BMO.

It's a hardware thing... see my reply to Matthew above.
