Hair today...?

My hair is, and has been for some time, desperately in need of a trim. As part of my ongoing mid-life crisis, I am actually contemplating whether to get some sort of hairstyle imposed at the same time.

I shall almost certainly keep it long, after all this effort; but am considering bangs or some sort of layering or shaping in order to improve the incidence of good hair days.

Suggestions, as ever, will be entertained. Points will be awarded for best and worst suggestions. Anything involving dyeing or maintenance is quite unlikely at this time. (Yes, I know I look good in purple.)
