I managed to make the choc chip cookie dough without getting flour all over my black jeans! That never happens. It's chiiling in the fridge for now 'cause the neighbors have invited us over for dinner (we're late). Not the cranky Glaswegian lady and her husband whom I still haven't met, but the chipper Southern Californians on the other side. Should be interesting...

There is something very satisfying about taking a pile of mostly uninteresting ingredients (apart from the chocolate chips, of course!) and turning them into yummy chocolate chip cookies. As an added bonus, we were still so full from the neighbors' excellent dinner party that we've only eaten one each, so that 58 of the original 60 will actually survive the night. (It's equally likely that we're just getting old, but I prefer the dinner party explanation.) Like we can actually eat that many, even with help. Sorry [livejournal.com profile] flyingwolf, you're going to have to take some with you...

The next door neighbors are... I believe the word I'm looking for here is "wacky". Very, very sweet; and kind of insane. Probably good people to have on our side. (-: [They also have two Australian shepherd dogs that are completely mental, and a cat that does a great "Couch Potato Cat" impression. I swear I saw it reach for the remote.]

Mmm... cookies...
