Be vewy, vewy quiet...
Oct. 25th, 2004 02:51 pm... we're hunting houses!
If everything goes well with the applications, we may find ourselves having to choose between two absolutely wonderful houses. One has a very nice tranquil back yard with lots of potential; the other has an amazing near-jungle with lemons, figs, the occasional avocado, and more guavas than you can shake a really big stick at already growing there.
I had been assuming that we would be lucky to get any one of these places. Imagine having to choose between these two! Oh, what a pickle that would be.
Freakily, it turns out there is another nice young couple who are shadowing us. They, too, are from out of town (Ohio, not quite as far as Dundee); they already have a dog, whereas we're merely planning on getting one; we've run into them looking at two different houses so far; and they were last seen leaving our Dream House #2, heading in the direction of the place with all the guava trees. I wonder: are they our evil twins, or are we theirs? They seem nice enough; but then again, so do we when we make the effort... (-:

We got the house! The one with the mango and avocado and guava trees in the backyard, that one. We just got off the phone with our future landlady, and we're meeting her tomorrow evening (in less than 24 hours!) to pay the deposit and sign the lease. This was our first choice and we are both SO excited.
We'll send pictures soon, we promise.
Yay! We get to move out of the silly Oakwood and the new place will be MUCH less beige.
