I feel an irresistable urge to go read both "Dude, Where's My Country?" and "Who Moved My Cheese?" just so I can write a book called "Dude, Where's My Cheese?".

I think the thing I like best about live sporting events is that when you shout at the players, they might actually hear you. (The umpire might hear you too, but it's his job not to care. (That was a STRIKE! Whattaya, BLIND?!))

Next time I'm going to bring some real food to nosh on though. Two of those low carb Power Bar thingies, and I'm not sure my stomach will ever forgive me. Also next time, we're both determined to get there earlier, and not let anyone else be in charge of our tickets. Apparently some exciting things happened in the first 3 innings...

The PAL video standard. Here is a link to an amusing page that describes the various standards, including the assertion that NTSC stands for Never Twice the Same Color. All I know is, NTSC is an abomination and gives me headaches.

In a moment of boredom, I googled for myself under my married name, and then under my maiden name because that didn't give enough results. Most of the stuff that comes up under "Diane Reamy" wasn't that much of a surprise - MacHack stuff, a LeadHeads flame I'm still quite proud of, lots of instances of the Federal Espresso quote (about half of them incorrect) - but I had completely forgotten about this one:

"I can't chill out. I'm fried. I'd come out all cold and greasy."
-- Diane Reamy

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] merde... I think...

Oh man. I can't believe I just ate that entire tandoori mixed grill. It took me half an hour, including throwing out half the onions. (Good thing, otherwise there really would have been explosions...) Working late doesn't sound so bad when it involves playing games and eating far too much Indian food.

Damn, one of these nights I'm going to get home early enough to work out!

Ooo, I wonder how the Dodgers are doing...

Okay, we have "Baseball for Dummies", and (according to [livejournal.com profile] stuartc) it doesn't properly cover the niceties of actual stats. (I haven't read it myself, but Stuart has, and I just had to explain to him what the batting average is!)

So! Can anyone recommend a good book along the lines of "Baseball for Complete Nerds"? Thanks much...
