How the hell did Thanksgiving get to be next week?!

(Wow, I'm taking this remarkably calmly.)

((I bet that's because it hasn't hit me how close the Christmas party is.))

It can't be. I'm completely unprepared for Thanksgiving - and the concept of shopping for christmas is just.... appallingly eep-making.

Are you going anywhere for thanksgiving or christmas?

I was too busy angsting about turning 40. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

We have made absolutely no travel plans for either. So we're probably not going anywhere. (-:

You could come down for Loscon, that doesn't start until Thanksgiving Friday. I'm sure we could clear off the guest bed.

[Right now I can't think past my company's Christmas party on December 3, because the band is playing and we SO need another 3 months' practice!! You ever get that nightmare where there's a class you haven't shown up to all semester? I'm getting that one about playing certain songs.]

I also blame the weather for not giving me any cues. It's supposed to be snowing now, right?

I understand completely. We're going to Boston & Brian's mom's for Thanksgiving. Otherwise, well, Loscon could sound tempting.

It'd be fun to visit - or have you come up here - or meet at some cool touristy place in the middle-ish. :-) Let's figure out a time.

As to the weather, I totally understand. I just got from IETF in Vancouver, B.C. It's cold up there (as in the 50s) & it rains! I'd nearly forgotten what this rain concept was. I barely remembered to bring my jacket. The trees were turned. This lack of weather clues is very very odd.

Good luck on the band practice. I'm sure it'll be fun/fine (but only if you focus on it ;-)

Oh well. Stuart had suggested trying to tempt you two down here for Thanksgiving. Guess it'll just be us and the cats then.

Sequoia National Park is about equally inconvenient. I'm not sure I actually want to learn to drive with snow chains on though. (Did I mention we saw a bear?)

As for band practice, I'd be a little less stressed out if I could get anyone *else* to focus on it! Talk about herding cats.

afraid so. We've not been to Sequoia National Park; when does it start getting snow?
Want to come up and visit :-)

Some years it starts getting snow in October. (Yes, we have tire chains. No, we never actually practiced putting them on.)

According to weather.com, it's still only hitting the 40s at night there at the moment. It doesn't say what elevation that's at, of course.

(Must remember to make an icon of the bear-shaped blur I photographed...)

Maybe we can enjoy the scenery in the spring instead??
