This blog is kind of nifty.

https://standarderrors.substack.com/

It's got data science in it, and data, and science. It also has the real world in it so it's often depressing. However, the author has an attitude of mixed cynicism and optimism that I am finding super refreshing right now.

Of particular interest are the posts on why NOT to watch election predictions, and the recent one on why Covid is wrecking (certain parts of) Los Angeles.

Thanks very much for the pointer!

The data science tools that are practically coming out of the woodwork lately are really incredible. It's such an amazing time to be alive and old enough to remember when there was NOTHING like this even vaguely available for free, much less open source :)

Now that I have the monster PC I'm typing this on I should eventually learn to use some of them, but there is a stack of other projects ahead of that including doing something fun and hopefully neat with Blender (Also kinda blowing my mind right now because it seems like large chunks of the motion picture industry have adopted it and started feeding it regular meals so it's gotten SUPER amazing :)
