Why is it impossible to find 54" long curtains any more?

Wondering if there's any particular trick to making curtains. Do you have to, like, put weights in them to make them hang properly?

At one point, you could get hemmable curtains at Ikea... and you didn't need to sew... you could do the hems with iron-on fusable tape.

If the fabric is heavy enough, or if they are lined, you don't need curtain weights. Also it depends on the look you want the curtains to have.

Curtains are really easy to make. The Singer sewing book series has a book on making curtains. Just measure the window and don't forget seam allowance and adding a bit for fullness/drape. You can go as easy or as complex as you want.
