I started the gigantic stitching project of DOOOOOOOOOOM.

There was much swearing, but I marked the centerlines, taped the edges, and wrestled the fabric into the huge scroll frame I bought earlier this evening. I then discovered that the purple masking tape, while purple, is evil in every other way imaginable, and ripped most of it off. Then I *actually* got the fabric into the frame in a more functional way, and started stitching.

So far I have done two of the ripples in the water. Without the actual water of course. But it's started!

Pictures will be posted at some point. Yes, I am taking pictures already; deal with it.

It's "The Big Stitch" from Cross Stitcher #196:

... it's the Art Deco lady, except that obviously I am making the dress purple instead of that awful peach.

Also, I've got enough excess fabric that I'm just going to let the edges fray if they must. It's in a scroll frame anyway; what's the worst that could happen?

it's not going to fray very much most likely. i'm impressed that you could reconfigure the colors - i think it will be much improved in purple!

As it happened, they printed a full set of colour charts for both Anchor and DMC threads in that issue of the magazine. Without that, I probably wouldn't have known where to begin.

Luckily I was able to find some more accurate color charts on the web. I'm learning not to believe everything I read. :P

I don't know why, but this design just really called out to me. (Which is fortuitous, as I actually bought the magazine for the free Margaret Sherry kit!)
