More housework, some shopping, some plotting of post-Christmas shopping. Discovered that flexibility is key when looking for lunch at 3 PM on Christmas Eve.

Product selection aside, Lowes has MUCH better music than Home Depot. The last couple of days Lowes has been in a '70s and '80s time warp, whereas Home Despot has treated us to some very disturbing Muzak. It bothers me very slightly that I'm spending enough time in these stores to know such things.

I could definitely get used to this slouching-around-the-house thing. Heaven help me, I think I've even caught up on my sleep. Already!

Merry Christmas to you folks on the right coast!

Even better than Lowes are the Anawalt stores, although I don't know whether there are any near you.

As for Home Despot, there is no comparison. I once needed some bolts to assemble some shelves -- a certain type of screw would have done well, too. I took one such bolt into H.D. I spent about half an hour alternating between trying to find those bolts myself, and trying to persuade one of their far-too-unconcerned "associates" to help me in more material fashion than just pointing me in the vague direction of a display.

Then I went to the Anawalt on Burbank Boulevard, right near the [livejournal.com profile] lasfs Clubhouse. I had not walked eight steps into the door when one of their sales people walked up to me and asked, "May I help you?" I showed him the bolt, and he darted as though magnetized to the correct pegtag and found the right ones for me in less than a minute.

I've since gone back to that same Anawalt for other parts and tools, and have received the same attentive service every time.

I have no connection with Anawalt other than being a satisfied customer.

Sadly the LA one seems to be closest to us, and I wouldn't describe it as "close". I'll keep it in mind for any future occasions though.
