Last night I went to the gym. Heaven help me, I may even make it TWICE this week!
I was determined that I was going to do 30 minutes on the cross trainer, and I did. Admittedly I did this by turning down the intensity of the intervally bits (from the default "8", whatever that means, to "5", whatever THAT means). I figure I'll get the duration going first and then work on intensity.
I played around a bit more⦠the pull-up assist machine's weight stack was borked in a DIFFERENT way this time, so I still didn't try that one out. I've decided I'm bored with machines anyway. I did 2 different kinds of shoulder torture with dumbbells, and more squats while holding a 10-pound dumbbell, and then tried to do an inclined chest press with dumbbells, which is REALLY not a good idea after all those shoulder moves. Owie.
I also messed about for a bit with the triceps push-down machine because I can't decide on a good triceps thing with the free weights. Decided the machine was boring.
On my way out, I saw a stack of flyers about personal training. Only the top one seemed to have the new guy's business card stapled to it, so I took that one. May give him a call at some point soon.

Date: 2006-09-14 04:01 am (UTC)It turns out that we have a gym at the university, although somehow I doubt that we have the personal trainers to go with it. A couple of us are thinking of trying to set up a Tai Chi class there a couple of times a week.
