The local races were 2 days ago. We got our butts kicked, but it could have been worse. In the 2 real races (500 meters) we came in 4th out of 4 each time, but we were damned close to the third boat in each case. Our first time was reported as "under 3 minutes", which I take to mean 2:59 and a bit. Our second time was (I heard) 2:50. Not awful. There was also a silly race of 250 meters in which we placed 3rd out of 5, despite a frightful loss of timing on the right side of the boat from which we never really recovered. Our time for the 250 meters was 1:22. Our starts are pretty good.

My scalp is sunburned. )-: I need a hat, or a scarf, or something… ideally something purple, and ideally something that won't make me look like an escaped mental patient (as most hats and scarves do). Sigh. For some reason dragon boating isn't covered in What Not To Wear for Every Occasion; I want my money back!
