Carb Tuesday

So apparently the Tuesday before Lent is Pancake Day, at least if you're British. stuartc and I celebrated this last night, with just the right number of pancakes, adorned with everything from black currant jam to maple syrup to Nutella.

I'm feeling oddly euphoric this morning. Quite probably because the kitchen still smells of pancakes.

edit: Apparently you can't really use HTML in the subject line. That was meant to say "Fat Carb Tuesday" but just looked stupid when the strikeout failed to show up. Ho hum.

We always had fastnachts (http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art8521.asp)! :) And when I was growing up we always used to get them from a local bakery - preferably still WARM. (hmm. that recipe only has 1 egg in it.... good thing I got rid of my deep fryer!)

MUCHO envy about pancake day. I am trying very hard not to eat any processed foods, including flour, or high carbo foods to get the weight off more quickly. So pancakes could not enter in the equation. [And not again for the foreseeable future...]

Your pancake day sounded great. I guess the A-Wrights' had a good one too.

Apparently not just British, at least this year. IHOP was giving out free short stacks yesterday morning and early afternoon.

Yay for my friends list being so multicultural! (For all I know it was Pancake Day in the tacky suburbs of Baltimore as well and it's just that no one ever told me. (-:)
