* The kazoo that died recently was not just any kazoo... it was (AFAIK) the last of the big batch of kazoos that [livejournal.com profile] lapsedagnostic and I bought at Toys R Us for a party at [livejournal.com profile] aliza250's place circa 1992. Imagine if you will, a kazoo chorus enthusiastically playing along to the Who's "Tommy"... good times.

* If I am informed one more time that perkiness is not allowed, I am going to have to counter-inform that I am just naturally perky and it's not my problem if other people can't deal with that.

* The "I don't want to know" post-it isn't working.

* If you play Lumines in challenge mode for long enough, the skins eventually wrap around.

* While my husband's employers are much BETTER about the whole working-ridiculous-hours thing, they are not yet perfect in that regard.

I think it was pre-92. I'm guessing 1990. Could check though - I have pictures. :)

(I'm guessing this year 'cause I think I was living in Philly that year. I'm going to go check.. just 'cause.)

yep. Kazoos. Got a pic of a bear and Haley with Kazoos. It was at the apt in Beltsville. And a baby Morgen and Althestan asleep in a corner. Next pics are Balticon. So, early 1990. I don't have any kazoos from that party though - just a bunch of weird memories. Some of them are in other people's brains.

I don't have any kazoos from that party though. :(

Wow, scary. 1990 was my original guess... but somehow I got this conflated with my moving in with Aliza in that condo, which happened in '92. Yay you for remembering kazoo history.

I'm told that singing in the morning isn't allowed either. But only if you're singing soprano.

I'm with you on the perkiness. That is how I cope, by being so perky and cheerful that the people who were going to annoy me go away. :) Doesn't always work though.

And try adding a second post-it that says, "I REALLY don't want to know."

So tell me... honestly... am I perky?? (I was using it ironically, but now I'm starting to have doubts.)

And try adding a second post-it that says, "I REALLY don't want to know."

That one made me laugh out loud. I might just try that...

I have seen you pretend to be perky, but I'm not sure how much real perkiness is in you, compared to talented amateurs like myself or professionals such as sichling.

You're not actually perky in the morning, are you? Isn't there something in the Geneva Conventions about that?

This is me we're talking about -- I'm not actually perky AT ALL.

However, as I have been nearly dead from this stupid cold for the past couple of weeks, yesterday I started feeling *relatively* perky. As in, relatively ALIVE; as in, this is a Good Thing.

When I used the phrase "occasional moments of perkiness" at lunchtime yesterday, Dan got the most alarmed look on his face and informed me that under no circumstances is perkiness allowed. I said it was all relative; he asked if I had perky relatives, and it went downhill from there...
