If there really is an Intelligent Designer, I'd like to have words with him/her/it about this whole "sinuses" feature.

EDIT: And another thing... on behalf of a friend, I'd also like to complain about the Bleeding Ulcer bug. You've had plenty of time to work the kinks out of this design; couldn't you have added, like, a warning light or something? Sheesh.

EDIT2: Even The Straight Dope can't answer why we have sinuses. "It is part of God's plan. Where else would the baby cold germs live?"

Fortunately, if there is, said designer also gave us corticosteroid nasal sprays.

They are my lifeline when it gets bad.

Bummer 'bout the sinii. )-:

Also, If said designer does exist they can't be intelligent 'cause who runs a sewer line right through the middle of a playground....

who runs a sewer line right through the middle of a playground....

Someone who doesn't care about the children! Duh.

(What if there were no rhetorical questions?)

"Someone who doesn't care about the children! Duh."

But when there are children passing through; It's no longer a playground, It's a departure gate.... (Not that there should be a sewer line there either...) :-)

"(What if there were no rhetorical questions?)"

Then there would be fewer smart assed answers... :-)

Given what my sinuses do when the barometric pressure changes, it's to allow some give and take when storm fronts come through. Mine can do that quite badly.

And yet most of the animal kingdom does just fine without. Go fig.

I fail to see how these flaws discredit the idea of intelligent design. Just because the designer was intelligent doesn't mean they had enough time or budget to do a thorough job.

You've been working in the computer industry for a while now, has management ever forced you to ship a product you knew to be flawed? Would they have gone ahead and shipped it even if you'd quit/threatened to quit?

To paraphrase Murphy's Laws of Combat "Never forget that your body was designed by the lowest bidder."

Ah, so Bill Gates really is God then? :)

Or did God just subcontract to Microsoft? And thinking of God subcontracting, I can thoroughly recommend 'The Creation Memos' as a practical record of the problems encountered when subcontracting on the building of a universe.

"Randall: We made trees and shrubs. We helped make all this.
Kevin: Whew! That's not bad.
Randall: Yeah. But did we get a thimble full of credit for it? No! All we got was the sack. Just for creating the Pink Bunkadoo.
Kevin: Pink Bunkadoo?
Randall: Yeah. Beautiful trees that was. Og designed it. 600 feet high, bright red, and smelled terrible. "

You raise an excellent point! Perhaps it's less a matter of intelligent design and more a matter of incompetent assistance? :-)

I thought they were there to warm and moisten the air you breathe before it gets to your lungs.

In baby cold germ nurseries? (And no, there are no rhetorical questions, why do you ask?)
