Musical shopping

So
stuartc turned out to have yesterday off after all... so we went shopping. Somehow it became MY TURN to drive to Hollywood, which I handled reasonably well. There were even SEVERAL spots available in the Guitar Center car park, which was absolutely astonishing. We went to Guitar Center where I bought a longer purple guitar cable, a big book o bass tabs, a new tuner so I can stop borrowing Dan's every time the old one refuses to tune my low B string, and... something else, I forget what.
We looked at the basses, of course. They have a bright blue Pedulla Rapture J2 5-string that I spotted instantly from across the room. I didn't know you could buy those new at Guitar Center! (I was somehow under the impression they were all made to order and took months...) I must say, I'm glad I bought mine used, that price would have put me off.
Then we went across the street to Sam Ash, where
stuartc bought himself a bass! Rather lower-end than the Pedulla, and only 4 strings. (I can't just let him play with mine, because he's left-handed and I'm not.) We also bought a book on how to play the bongos that we got for Christmas, and I bought a kazoo to replace the one that got tragically broken during band season. Then we went home and played with the new bass, and I showed him some things to do (and some things not to do) and the cats were scared and it was good. (-:
I did NOT find the Sheryl Crow songbook that I need to buy, which is the only part that makes me sad. I can always order it on line, I guess; it might be time to find out just how slow the super saver shipping really is.
