Meanwhile, actual projects are going on
Nov. 25th, 2022 06:08 pmI started my next sewing project. I have a pattern for an A-line skirt with gigantic pockets. The plan is to make a wearable mockup and... actually wear it, to see if I like wearing skirts. (And to see if the pockets will hold a modestly sized iPhone.)
So far I have made copious lists, traced and cut out 4 (of 6) pattern pieces, cleared the pattern paraphernalia off the table and ironing board, threaded 2 bobbins (which I predict will not be enough), set up the sewing machine with a universal needle and the right color of thread, changed my rotary cutting blade, ACTUALLY CUT OUT SOME FABRIC (the waistband pieces, to see if I guessed the size right), sworn copiously at Past Diane for putting things away in strange places...
And sewed. Two entire seams. Little bitty ones. And pressed them! I tried on the waistband and I think I'm going to try the next larger size. I was pretty close though!
I've also added some things to my shopping list. You can never have too many sewing machine needles (well, I can't). And daaaaaamn I need a 24" ruler.
