What the heck?

Comic strips being outsourced... I knew Doonesbury hasn't been drawn by Trudeau for quite a while; Shoe isn't done by the original guy any more; and now it turns out Rose Is Rose is now "Created by Pat Brady; By Don Wimmer"?!

Who the heck is Don Wimmer? Will this depressing outsourcing craze never end? Are these things just franchises or brands now, to be carried on regardless, even after the original creator decides to stop doing them for whatever reason?

Ugh. Just when I thought the world couldn't get any more soulless. I don't know why, but I'm just finding this oddly creepy.

Not actually work-related this time...

The topic of the fast-food chain Wienerschnitzel came up at the lunch table today, entirely at random.

I made the mistake of actually sharing an anecdote of work-related Wienerschnitzel-ness. Dan then proceeded to try to out-weird me. There were innocent bystanders. It was bad.

Random bits

The 5x5x5 Rubik's Cube on my desk is doing its job of starting lots of conversations. Every single one of these has featured the question "Can you solve that?" in varying degrees of admiration and/or disbelief. Most of them have involved the obvious answer of, "Why no! I brought it in the show off that I CAN'T solve it, and if anybody messes it up I'm screwed!"

6:15 PM is NOT the time you want to be going to the FedEx place for drop-off. That's when all the FedEx trucks in the universe are swarming in. On the other hand, dropping off sure beats picking up. Mine took all of about 15 seconds.

I am proud of the fact that I didn't glue my finger to the steering wheel today. This is odd because I don't do that MOST days, and never give it a second thought. Or a first thought.
