On the post-Worldcon part of the trip, we hired a car and drove over 900 miles in 5 days, only to end up exactly where we'd started. Which really shouldn't be possible in a country that small. (When I say "we" drove, of course, I mean
stuartc.)
( Monday we drove to Lancashire )
( Tuesday we drove to the West Midlands for more relatives )
( Wednesday, Harrogate, John and Marie and Alice )
( Thursday, St Andrews )
( Friday, back to Glasgow via Glenfarg and Perth )
Amazingly, British Airways put us on a plane to Heathrow only half an hour late; we shopped at Heathrow and then got on a plane for LA, also only half an hour late. Came home and collapsed, rest is history.
Greatly looking forward to a Worldcon with slightly LESS TRAVEL next year -- I love being in different places, it's just getting there that's a pain in the ass. (Unless of course I continue my streak of moving away from incoming Worldcons...)
