Met with the landlady this morning; paid November rent, collected key, forgot to ask if the house is wired for the evil Comcast cable. (All cablecos are evil, I have nothing in particular against Comcast. Yet.) Did a forwarding order at the post office, checked the PO box, got cards to put more money on our cell phones, came home and used the awesome power of the Internet to research cable and satellite TV options. I even went so far as to phone up Comcast(!) and hassle them about the fact that their web site is very proud of their new digital telephone service but refuses to give anything resembling pricing. How productive is that?

There is a place called Rattie Ratz that does rescues exclusively on pet rats.

Pet rats RULE. They are clean, they are way too smart, they are affectionate, and they sleep all day so they're just waking up and happy to see you when you come home from work. Their biggest drawback is that they only live a couple of years.

Rattie Ratz also appear to completely RULE. How dare they be 400 miles north of where I live! Sigh. I wonder what the LA animal shelter's got, rat-wise...
