Some random notes on the journey to get here: We flew British Airways this time (hurrah!) which meant, among other things, that we flew from Glasgow to London and then from London directly to LA. On taking off from London, the first thing the plane did was to fly north and pass directly over Glasgow again. Sigh. We flew over the houses of, among others, Penny in Chiswick,
sharikkamur, and
cevad. We also flew over at least one other place called Glasgow, which may have been in Montana or possibly Saskatchewan, and which was not far from a place called Aberdeen. A little patch of Scotland in the wilds of North America? And finally, I spent a fair bit of the flight chatting with an absolutely lovely Dutch woman in her mid-80s, who was bound for a connecting flight to Burbank; we both agreed that the plane would probably pass directly over Burbank on the approach to LA, and that far too much of our lives were being spent travelling in exactly the wrong direction.
Now we are here and have been installed in the extremely beige Oakwood apartments. We spent most of the weekend shopping at various fine computing establishments; I have a lovely shiny new PowerBook, and Stuart has a new PC which is arguably possibly *too* shiny. Right now Stuart is at work, and I'm meant to be job hunting just as soon as I stop messing about on LJ (sigh).
