Argh. Have I said argh recently?
Oct. 27th, 2005 07:57 pmSorry about the insane postings. Been having mood swings from hell all afternoon/evening. Funny thing is, the morning and middle bits of the day sucked too, but I was dealing just fine until shortly after lunch.
I blame the 2 Reese's peanut butter cups I had with lunch. Time to re-institute the ban on American chocolate. It's not like the stuff's any good anyway.

Date: 2005-10-28 03:53 am (UTC)Besides, if the stuff makes me insane, this is probably the best time to ban it.
Did I mention they seemed to be CHRISTMAS peanut butter cups? Gah.

Date: 2005-10-28 01:12 pm (UTC)Oh, and Ghirardelli (http://www.ghirardelli.com/) disproves the notion that it's "American" which is wrong about the chocolate. What's wrong with the standard Hershey (who own Reese's) or Nestle crap is that it's brown wax made in giant lots and marketed to children with immature tastes.

Date: 2005-10-28 03:55 pm (UTC)Ghirardelli only disproves the notion that comparing large-vat mass-produced chocolate with small specialist manufacturers is pointless. Of course the Ghirardelli stuff is nice. Chocolate in several delicious flavours is all they produce. It has to be good or they're out of business!
Both Hershey ahd Cadbury's make more of their profits from other chocolate-related products rather than simple chocolate in bar form. The main point of the Cadbury vs Hershey debate is that the whole range of Cadbury's products (which are of course marketed at children) are delicious and very eatable, wheras the majority of Hershey's product line tastes like crap.

Date: 2005-10-28 08:50 pm (UTC)The only decent American chocolate in existence, plus two European varieties. We are nearly in violent agreement again.
Hershey's Special Dark was great when I was about 17. Nowadays it's all gritty and waxy. I'm not sure which has changed, the chocolate or me...
