Well, I've gone and done it. Just made an appointment for my first haircut in 3 years. ("What, there's a 10:45 on Saturday MORNING now?") I'll do my best not to get talked into anything too crazy due to excessive sleepiness.

I'm going to keep it long, but it's awfully scraggly. Hopefully the "trim" aspect of all this won't be too traumatic. (And yes, this is the "first cut is $20" place. What could possibly go wrong?)

Well, there's always the variant "What's the worst that could happen?" I find that a very empowering question when I get stuck in indecision.

In this case, the answer is "I do a Sinead O'Connor and let it grow out for several years."

Having them cut off three or so inches now will mean that it will grow back in more healthily. That is naughty to wait that long-- it will grow more quickly and in better condition if you get it cut every eight weeks! I promise....

I saw a photo of a lady with a face/head almost exactly like yours. She looks amazing with a wedge a-line just an inch short of shoulder length. [It had to be said.]

Sigh. My hair grows so slowly that if I get half an inch trimmed every 8 weeks it'll be going backwards.
