List 5 idiosyncrasies. Tag 5 of your friends.

1. I fidget -- destructively -- with my split ends.

2. I doodle obsessively in meetings when bored. It keeps me quiet, which can only be a good thing.

3. I have an obsessive need to explain everything to anyone who doesn't seem to quite understand. There are some people, especially at work, for whom I curb this; but it is a huge effort. I also explain things to the cats quite a lot.

4. I have a deep, irrational fear and loathing of mushrooms. Not exotic ones like shiitakes or wood-ears, just the classic "mushroom-shaped" mushrooms. If they're chopped up really small I don't care, and if they're smothered in a tasty sauce I'll often close my eyes and eat them; but I'm scared of 'em! I think I was exposed at too young an age to the joke "I must be a mushroom..." (See, there I go explaining things again.)

5. I am utterly incapable of resisting a bad pun. (Or pointing out when someone else has accidentally committed one.)

I can understand the need to explain things to people. Cats must be really useful for that - after all, you can explain things to them again and again and again and they won't complain.

You're not being irrational; mushrooms are loathsome and to be feared. Fungus is alien and it means us no good.
