The weather in Glasgow was ridiculously sunny and actually quite hot. [livejournal.com profile] stuartc and I tried to take credit for bringing the nice weather with us.

Stuart remarked at one point that he would be disappointed if we didn't see any rain. Well, we got our wish -- there were some moments whilst driving across the Pennines that we didn't see anything BUT rain. (Luckily the road went straight there.)

Oddly, the WH Smith at Heathrow had a far superior selection of Iain (M) Banks books than the one in Glasgow. I didn't see "Raw Spirit" anywhere though -- good job we already have a copy! One of the duty-free shops did have the Cuban-barrel-aged Glenfiddich variant that he mentioned that you can't get in the US. (We decided against it on the grounds that it was well overpriced and *only* Glenfiddich. Never even mind if US Customs got nosy...)

We did not make it to Dundee to see our house which we still own and are renting out, nor had we particularly planned to. I'm not sure if this is because it would have been pointless, or heart-wrenching, or both.

Meanwhile, in the here and now, I didn't make it to the gym tonight either. I seem to be coming down with some sort of cold or sore throaty thing, so it probably wouldn't do to knock myself out exercising. And I might still be a little jet-lagged (or a lot short on sleep). My temperature is 99.0 degrees, which for me is quite impressive. Someone please wake me when I'm all better.

So I guess the question is how many years of being someplace else does it take to be willing to sell one's first house, regardless of how far away it is? Of course, [livejournal.com profile] 3diff and I are in the same shoes - renting our house in Arlington...

Hot? I found it quite perfect. I think it was more typical weather the day or two before you showed up and I was bumbed that I hadn't brought my raincoat - but then the weather turned. Missed two 97 degree days in DC, so hot is certainly not the word I'd use to describe the temp over there. :)

I should have asked for your and Stuart's advice about the bottle of booz I got for grayfox13. Just blindly trusted the guy at the duty-free shop and got: Glenmorangie, single highland malt scotch whisky, Cellar 13. She seemed pleased.

Ooh, very nice. You can't go wrong with a Glenmorangie. (That was the stuff RS first got me started on!)

As for the weather... for Glasgow, that was hot. (-:

You definitely brought the weather to Glasgow. Fred and I had some really nasty rain to drive through both on the way and on the way back.

Hmm... maybe the weather moved down the country with you, as Tuesday at Duxford was beautiful.
