The sewing machine has arrived!
Jul. 18th, 2006 04:07 pmIt was actually delivered some time yesterday, during the day; but the wily UPS person hid it very well. It wasn't until bedtime that I decided to track the package on amazon.com again and see when it was going to be delivered... only to find out that it supposedly already HAD been delivered! Much surprise and sputtering ensued. (Okay, panic and cursing ensued. This is me, after all.)
stuartc and I went out to the front porch. No sewing machine was in evidence, nor was one lurking in the bushes. Finally we thought the check the back yard. Apparently the wily UPS person decided it would be a good idea to come through the gate and leave it by the back door. In retrospect, I can agree that this was probably the best plan, but I will say I panicked quite a bit when I thought my $500 sewing machine (plus shipping) had mysteriously evaporated.
I have absolutely no idea when I'm even going to have time to read the instructions, much less actually set the thing up and play with it. I guess the first thing to do is see whether it comes with ANY embroidery threads and stabilizer for stitching out a test design (OMG, I almost sound like I know what I'm talking about there!) or if I'm going to have to go out and buy everything. And obviously, if so, where to shop? Eesh, and I thought my shopping worries were over? I'm sure they've just begun.
Still, it should be fun. And even as a sewing machine, it should be a step up from what I'm used to. Whee!
