random bits

Did some more stitching on the cross stitch lady of dooooooom. GAH, someone needs to be slapped for recommending doing this on aida. Sadly I've already agreed to do the same picture for a friend in shades of pink. Maybe for the next one I'll make up some art deco mittens. :P

Started trying to play Rock Band 2 songs on Hard mode. Ow. Only got booed off the stage once (that will teach me not to trust "simple" mystery set lists!). Am occasionally adopting the strategy of just skipping all the orange notes. Sigh.

Have realised that work stress is getting to me way too much. There's too much ambient stupidity; I never seem to discharge the current Mad quickly enough before the next one comes along. Oh well, awareness is the first step. Silly post-its are the next ("stupid happens"), we'll see if that helps.

The new CJ Cherryh book ROCKS. I might need to go back and re-read Cyteen, but I'm not hopelessly lost. Yet.

Had a ton of sushi for lunch today. I feel like I may never get hungry again. We stopped for boba on the way back. I have tentatively decided that beverages should not be chewy.

DAMN YOU KENKEN!

Should I infer from this that she's finally written the sequel? *Hopeful grin*

The re-doing of a pattern, even in another colour, is always a bit of a pain. So why have I just bought a second fleur-de-lys cushion? (So I can have a matching pair, actually, but it won't stop the making of it being a bit dull.)

Yes, the sequel only took 20 years to come out. Huzzah.

Mostly I can't believe I'm going to have to do this insane backstitch again. )-:

Yeah, why did you do it on aida?

and which pink range are you going to use?

[identity profile] dianec42.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I did it on aida because the damn instructions said so! We've been through this. :P

I'm using DMC. Here's the color chart: http://www.crazyquilts.ca/SILK%20EMBR%20FLOSS/dmcColors.jpg
The original design calls for the range 3714-347 (top left) + 815 (bottom left). I'm considering using the range 963-3831 (second column, second group down), although I have to say 961 and 3833 look identical to me so I may have to pull in something else.

I need seven shades. and the request was "pink". I think the original is a bit too coral. We'll see what P thinks.

For reference, the current one is being done in (fourth column, bottom) 211-327 + 550. The 550 is so dark it looks almost black. I kind of wish there was a 551, I'd have used that instead.

silly Diane. All designs should be on evenweave-linen.

Actually, most designers who really want purples start looking at the Anchor ranges :)

Sigh. I'll have you know I did start by looking at the Anchor ranges, not least because I had 3 or 4 nice shades already in my stash.... only to discover that all of the stores around here seem to carry only DMC!

I'm not as hard-core as you are. Yet. Give it time...
