Sudden cat-astrophic failure

RIP Zoot. You gave us 13 years of spazziness, cuteness, and occasional hassles.

She was eating a bit less for a few days. Thursday afternoon (2 days ago) she emitted a mighty howl and threw up her breakfast. (Everywhere, as it happened. I had to laugh.) Cats, right? They throw up sometimes. The howl was a bit weird but we thought no more of it. Thursday night she ate most of her dinner.

Friday afternoon she threw up a little bit; Friday night when feeding time rolled around, I discovered this was because she'd only eaten a little, leaving most of her breakfast in her dish. She's always been a very food-motivated cat so this was starting to become alarming.

I tried to entice her with some food last night but she wasn’t interested at all; she even let us touch her and pick her up (also alarming in this cat!). I drove her to the vet this morning and they found a large mass. There was nothing to do, we couldn’t even bring her home and keep her comfortable. We went back and petted her and said goodbye. I told her to say enjoy kitty heaven with all the shrimps, and to say hi to Princess even though we know she doesn't like her.

2021 has been a shit year for cats so far. Just Findo remains, and his kidney disease will probably take him down this year.
