Interesting shift in recent self-esteem issues

Last night at the gym I noticed I have shifted from "I suck" to "I'm really sucking at this right now."

That seems to be a step in the right direction, and seems to apply in several areas of my life.

Language and self-esteem are quite intriguing. A mate's mother-in-law has a trick. whenever she observes there is something absent from her repetoire of skills, she phrases it thus: "I can't do [selected activity] YET". By adding the 'yet', it implies she will some day. Magic.

Have you ever studied NLP? It is a brilliant area of cognitive and communicative analysis, quite powerful indeed.

Good on you!

I have heard of NLP, but have not studied it at all. I have taken a few courses from Landmark, where one of the first things they teach is that many (most?) of our problems are caused not by circumstances but by our reactions to them. (One of the courses goes on at great length about the power of language in creting reality. Which is very interesting stuff, although I do think they take it over a cliff just a bit.)
