I am so picky...

Grammatical peeves for today: "a criteria" and (new one!) "lense" apparently intended as the singular of "lenses", as in "contact lense fitting".

(Yes, I know I need to get out more. But if I spend an hour at the beach every time the web annoys me, I'll be picked up for vagrancy within a week...)

I have to disagree there

Having lived in Europe, I figure you'd be aware that `lense' is the preferred British spelling, and considered an acceptable one here (especially in optical circles). In any case, I'm guilty of using that spelling by default.

oh, all right

I hadn't encountered that one before, I'll take your word for it.

"A criteria" is still irritatingly wrong though.

Nah. It's Lens or nothing. Not even Chambers (http://www.chambersharrap.co.uk/chambers/chref/chref.py/main?query=lense&title=21st) recognises Lense as an acceptable alternative, I'm afraid. You use it in a Scrabble game, I'm gonna call you on it!
