things I learned today
The "low fuel" warning light in our car does NOT work.
The gas tank holds 16 gallons, possibly exactly.
Modern gas cans are a PITA.
Marine stores are not necessarily useful if what you need is an automobile gas can. (Boat gas cans are apparently different.)
And finally, huzzah for the local Shell station, and phooey on the nearby Chevron.
(It could have been worse. I ran out in the post office car park, 90% of the way into a parking space. Timing is everything!)
